COMMENTS

Lack of Carollers
Most of the carollers were made up of the organising team and this should not be the case as all World Youth Day 2011 pilgrims are required to participate in fund-raising activities.

Bonding Time
World Youth Day 2011 pilgrims should join the carolling group as this would be a good opportunity to bond with the rest of the pilgrims as was observed during the 1st carolling practice. It is to be noted that World Youth Day is not just about meeting the pope, but also about sharing your spiritual experiences with those around you.

Commitment
The carollers present were reminded that there has to be commitment in attending carolling practices as time is running out and our first gig is approaching very soon. Also, attendance will be taken at every carolling practice.

Fundraising, The Beginning!

World Youth Day 2011 Fundraising – Selling of Wreaths, Calendars and Umbrellas

Date: 21st November 2010
Time: 6.45 am, 8.30 am, 11.30 am and 6.00 pm masses
Place: All entrances/exits and sides of the church
Objective: To raise funds for subsidisation of costs for World Youth Day 2011 pilgrims

Timeline:
Before mass ended, Father Phillips announced that the World Youth Day 2011 team is selling wreaths, calendars and umbrellas to raise funds. He also asked the parishioners to support the team/youth by buying the items on sale.

As soon as mass was over, parishioners were approached so as to get them to buy the items on sale.

COMMENTS

Supportive Parishioners
Many parishioners were supportive of the fundraising activity carried out. This highlights the effectiveness of the launch carried out the previous day (20th November) and last Sunday (14th November).

Donation
Some generous parishioners who didn’t want to buy anything gave donations instead. Again, this highlights the effectiveness of the launch carried out.

THANK YOU
We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all parishioners who had supported our fundraising activity on Sunday. Thanks to you, we have managed to raise an encouraging sum of money!
