World Youth Day 2011 Launch @ Assumption Family Night

Date: 20^th November 2010

Time: 6.30 pm mass to 9.30 pm

Place: Side of the church

Objective: To create awareness among the parishioners about World Youth Day 2011 and to attract more pilgrims to participate in this international event.

Timeline:

      During the time for the Thanksgiving hymn, John Paul informed the parishioners of the launch and shared a short testimonial of his experiences in World Youth Day 2008 which was held in Sydney, Australia. Then, a four minute video, The Soul of Madrid was played to give an overview of what World Youth Day 2011 is all about.

      As soon as mass was over, brochures were handed out to the parishioners by the members of the World Youth Day 2011 Core Team. Those who had enquiries or wanted to register right away as pilgrims was directed side of the church where the WYD 2011 booth was located.

COMMENTS

Registrations

There were quite a number of registrations, meaning that the launch has once again been effective. Passers-by who were curious had also stopped by and enquired about World Youth Day 2011.

Bad Timing

It was noted that many parishioners had refused the brochures as they were more interested in the food since the Family Night started right after the 6.30 pm mass. Nevertheless, this did not hamper the launch as the WYD booth was opened right up to 9.30 pm.

FAQs

As per during the launch last Sunday, the most frequently asked questions are mainly those pertaining to the costs involved (basic and extended packages), the flight details to and from Madrid, the activities and the lodgings in Madrid. There were also a number of enquiries regarding the age range for pilgrims attending World Youth Day 2011.

Info Session on 21 November 2010

Those who were interested were also asked to attend the information session that will be held the following day, which is 21^st November 2010. All enquiries will be addressed during the information session.

Carolling

The parishioners were also encouraged to join the carolling practice which will be held after the WYD Info Session in support of the youths’ fund raising activities.
