Assumption's WYD 2011 Campaign Kicks Off!

World Youth Day 2011 Official Launch

Date: 14^th November 2010

Time: 6.45 am, 8.30 am, 11.30 am and 6.00 pm masses

Place: All the entrances/exits of church

Objective: To create awareness among the parishioners about World Youth Day 2011 and to attract more pilgrims to participate in this international event.

Timeline:

      During the time for the Thanksgiving hymn, John Paul informed the parishioners of the launch and shared a short testimonial of his experiences in World Youth Day 2008 which was held in Sydney, Australia. Then, a four minute video, The Soul of Madrid was played to give an overview of what World Youth Day 2011 is all about.

      As soon as mass was over, brochures were handed out to the parishioners by the members of the World Youth Day 2011 Core Team. Those who had enquiries or wanted to register right away as pilgrims was directed to the main booth or the side booths at the front and side of the church.

COMMENTS

Positive Impact

A substantial amount of registrations were received during the launch and this translates to the effectiveness of the launch. Also, many parishioners, young and those young at heart alike had approached those on duty with many enquiries about World Youth Day 2011. This shows that awareness has been created and raised among parishioners about World Youth Day 2011.

Misconceptions

Many parishioners who do not consider themselves as youths anymore either refused the brochures or laughed when handed the brochures. This shows that they have the misconception that World Youth Day 2011 is only for youths.

FAQs

The most frequently asked questions are mainly those pertaining to the costs involved (basic and extended packages), the flight details to and from Madrid, the activities and the lodgings in Madrid. There were also a number of enquiries regarding the age range for pilgrims attending World Youth Day 2011.

Info Session on 21 November 2010

Parishioners and those who were interested were also asked to attend the information session that will be held on 21^st November 2010. Any further enquiries will be addressed during the info session.

The fact that we received a donation from a parishioner showed that support for World Youth Day 2011 has been garnered.
